Morning show today - will we get an audience?

It's Tuesday - that means it's the second Frog and Toad show, and it's our morning performance - for many shows this would be the graveyard shift - we hope we'll attract a few locals but we have no idea what to expect - yesterday's show was for an all-festival audience and we hope for a paying audience today!

Before we go too far, I promised you a few shots from the Celidh (Scottish dance) last night - here ya go, courtesy of Veronica Gallager

There were a bunch of tired pups trying to rev up for the day - but makeup at 9am is not something we are excited about!  A few of the not-so-morning people took a few extra zzzzs while waiting to catch the bus.

Sarah and Julia were happy to report that the Stage Left frame was holding together, and they were confident that it would survive the show - it was only a matter of time before we found out!

It was a gorgeous morning as we waited our turn - would that bring out the crowd?

The preshow ritrual was done quickly and efficiently, and today we were in good shape when it was time to open the doors.  And then - excitement!  There was the Becker family!  There were the Bisk grandparents!  There was a kid - then another - then another - then a whole group of about a dozen preschoolers!  We had a local crowd!

The show ran beautifully, even despite one tech challenge- it seems the two lighting  specials that were hung for us have to be refocused every time - and for some reason they were each pointed to the wrong ramp - so, if a lighting cue had the stage right ramp lit, it was actually the stage left ramp that lit up.  Mr. Schneider figured that out very quickly (after Christian had to get dressed in the dark!)  and he soon had a plan to manually set the looks on each scene that involved the specials.

The audience loved the show!  We chatted with one local woman with a child who said it was one of her favorite shows she'd seen!  We also heard from the tech staff at the theatre that our show had the most complex tech of any show in that venue this week - and they were proud of how well we handled it!

After the show we had a blissfully long time off!  We went back for lunch and then everyone had time to pursue whatever interested them.  Mrs. Gallagher volunteered to lead an expedition to the beach, and they took a 20-minute bus ride from the city center to Portobello Beach on the Firth of Forth.  Beach pictures from Mrs Gallagher!

We reconvened to head to the Church Hill Studio for a school show from Alabama - a self-written piece of storytelling called SWEET TEA AND GOLLYWHOPPER EGGS - TALES FROM THE AMERICAN SOUTH.  The 5-person cast performed with charm, energy and spirit - hard to do since the late curtain meant there were no children in the audience.  But the Titans in Tartans made an excellent audience for them, and  they turned in a good show!

These photos were taken while we were waiting to enter the theatre - just more evidence that we still have a company of happy campers!

Tomorrow it's our day out of town - a trip into the Highlands including Stirling Castle.  Excited!
