A Walking Day

This will be short, as I'm on a little break before dinner and then gathering the company for our long-awaited trip to the Royal  Edinburgh Military Tattoo!

Today has been a fairly unscheduled day.  This morning a group of us made a  hike up to Arthur's Seat, led by the intrepid Veronica Gallagher.  The air was crisp and cool at 7am, and the wind at the top was spretty powerful!  We were joined by Sarah's Mom and Zoe's Dad on the hike.  An absolute highlight was helping David along the way.  We decided he is part billy-goat, as he negotiated the rocky passages with relative ease, with a little help from the adults on the trip - thanks to Mr. Schneider, Mrs. Gallagher and Mrs. Tunick for helping to keep him steady!  The photos tell the story.

This afternoon we had the Baby Wants Candy improv comedy show, and it did not disappoint!  The six-member improv team and 3-member band performed at breakneck speed without missing a beat (musically or comically).  Mostly riotous, sometimes vulgar, always fast-paced and at times hilariously embarrassing (when an inprov actor asks to borrow a cell phone from the audience, you better run!), the group had our kids in stitches for an hour.  So glad we had the workshop with them first, so we could see into their methods!

Cameras weren't allowed inside, and I didn't have mine with me to take a shot at the "Underbelly", but someone will and I'll get  a picture posted!  In the meantime enjoy this picture of horizontal grass (real) that I found outside a home!

After the show some of our group took a trip up the street to see the Elephant House Pub, famous as the spot where JK Rowling wrote much of the first Harry Potter novel.    Last years's picture will suffice until I get one that was taken today.

The Tattoo will probably end too late to be able to post tonight, so those might have to wait until tomorrow!  Here's a tease from last year!
