Casting Notice

Another wonderful casting session has come and gone – congratulations on doing fine work and helping us build a strong HOW TO SUCCEED cast.  Before   you dash down to find if your name appears, please take note of these important bits of housekeeping:

  • There is a signature line next to the names – sign there by your name to accept your role.  Sign either the list on the music office window or the one on the theatre callboard in the music hall.
  • If you are NOT cast at this time, have a little patience and a spot might open up a little later on down the line – especially after report cards come out!
  • All assignments are tentative pending payment of ECA fees, continued good grades and others factors that might come up.  If you have NOT paid your ECA fee see me immediately.  You will not be permitted at rehearsal after break until it is paid.
  • Any paperwork (application, resume and contract) that is not complete needs to be turned in  by the first day back, January 4. Also, complete all your info on VSM, including phone numbers, addresses, and updated bio if you haven’t yet.  All cast members have VSM accounts – new crew members, see me about setting one up for yourself.
  • CONFLICTS should be entered into the system by December 31.  Enter any confirmed conflict for any event between 2:30 and 10pm on school days and 9am – 3pm Saturday.  Do not enter conflicts for any date after   March 1 without clearing it with me.
  • There will be a couple of  little things to cast after the break  - mostly female solo lines -  these will happen as the show develops.  If you are listed as Ensemble/Dance, then you’ve been assigned tentatively to the pirate number – and more may be added. .  That will be determined later.
  • We will meet at 2:20 Monday after school  for the first read-through with a complilation of the three major  cast albums.  This is always a fun experience – plan to stay for the whole reading – it’s a long show – plan to stay until 5:30.
  • Script books will be issued to all principal characters – they are RENTED so you may NOT  highlight in them  - mark in pencil only .  Before the scripts come, you’ll be issued a binder script – bring your own binder!
  • CREW CHIEF personnel are expected at the readthrough.  Be prepared to take notes about ideas that I’ll presente.
  • There are a couple of open chief positions – see me if you are interested..
  • UNDERSTUDIES will be assigned for each principal role – that will be determined after the break– if you have not been placed in the cast, or if you have an ensemble track, ask me if there may be an understudy track available for you.

CASTING ASSIGNMENT AS OF DECEMBER 20, 2014
List is alphabetical by character or work assignment  name.
*All crew chief assignments pending approval of technical/artistic staff and successful completion of paperwork.  Let me know  if you are interested in one of the available  positions.

THE MUSICAL COMEDY MURDERS OF 1940

THE MUSICAL COMEDY MURDERS OF 1940
CASTING PLAN
Thank you all for your excellent participation in auditions and interviews.  It takes a special person to go after a role or leadership position  in a theatre production – congratulations on your bravery and dedication to our troupe.
Please INITIAL by your name to accept your role assignment.  Hard copies of the notice will be posted on the theatre door, and on the STAGE callboard in the music hallway.
If for any reason you will not accept your role, please inform me ASAP in writing or in person.  Any personnel change will require us to do some shuffling, and it would make sense to do that right away.
If we were not able to assign you a cast position at this time, please consider working on the other aspects of the production as much as your schedule allows.  The general stage crew will get started soon – listen for announcements.
If any changes to the cast are needed, we’ll notify you personally if an onstage spot for you develops – and that does happen once in a while!  Everyone who auditioned can be considered as a candidate to move into any open position that develops.
The  mandatory  readthrough is Wednesday, September 10 at 6:00 pm.  Plan to  meet in the little theatre, and  stay until at least 8:30 to allow us sufficient time to read through the script.
All casting and work assignments are based on the completion of all paperwork – application, contract and resume – by WEDNESDAY, September 17.  All CONFLICTS should be entered into VSM by that time as well.
Once again, thank you for the work and effort you’ve put in to the audition process.

Journeying homeward

A brief post this morning as we sit in a waiting area at Heathrow, with about 2 hours to go before our gate is posted.  Just enough time to update you on our last day.

Remnants of a hurricane have put all of Scotland in a wet mess and it rained all day yesterday.  That didn't stop the Titans in Tartans from pursuing some last minute pleasures of Edinburgh - there were trips to the castle, shopping excursions and Fringe shows to take in before everyone did their best to turn in early.

A small group ventured into the Edinburgh castle - always a worthwhile visit, but shortened due to the nasty weather.   Even in the rain the views are special.

People who wanted to catch shows had one more day to indulge their whims - my family took in the show NOT called Whose Line is it Anyway (They called it What Does the Title Matter Anyway) - but it was hosted by original British Whose Line host Clive Anderson, and this evening's performance featured mega-popular stars of the American version, Colin Mochrie and Greg Proops.  As longtime fans of the show we really enjoyed seeing them live - no pix of the performers, as photos weren't allowed - but I did manage to sneak a couple of the stage setup.  The room was an enormous lecture or meeting hall at the University of Edinburgh - very Harry Potter-ish!

Closing here since online time at Heathrow is limited - suffice it to say that our trip was all we dreamed of and sometimes more.  The kids were fantastic, no real issues except a couple of late arrivals and some sick days.  More than anything I'm proud of how beautifully they came together as a company, and how admirably they represented Einstein, the theatre program and our county, state and nation.

We are eager to see our loved ones - including the parents, the siblings, and the puppies and kitties we left behind!

Frog and Toad, going into hibernation, over and out!
