ANOTHER SHOW FAMILY IS BORN - SEUSSICAL!



Casting Notice


Congratulations on completing a wonderful set of auditions!  We have so many options of how to stage the play and create the world of Seuss, with an ensemble of really srtong singers, dancers  and actors.  I’m excited about the process!  Read on for all the info you need to get the ball rolling!


  • There is a signature line next to the names – go to the STAGE callboard in the music hallway and sign there by your name to accept your role.
  • All accepted cast members are currently academically eligible – but you must maintain that by keeping a 2.0 for the 2nd quarter, no more than 1 E.  I will talk with you individually if I think you’re at risk of losing your spot due to grades.
  • All assignments are tentative pending payment of ECA fees.  Check with your parents, and if you have NOT paid your ECA fee see me to get the form you have to send in to MCPS.
  • Any part of your audition file  that is not complete needs to be turned in  by the first day back, January 4

    • Resume updated with your latest credits
    • Signed contract (see me for a copy)
    • Update VSM with all contact info for parents, including phone numbers, addresses and email addresses)
  • CONFLICTS should be entered into the system by December 31.  Enter any confirmed conflict for any event between 2:30 and 10pm on school days and 9am – 3pm Saturday.  Do not enter conflicts for any date after   March 1 without clearing it with me in advance
  • We’ll have our first read-through on Monday, January 11 at 6:00 pm in the auditorium – mandatory for all cast and crew chiefs, optional for crew members.   This is always a fun experience for all!
  • Script books will be issued to all principal characters – they are RENTED so you may NOT  highlight in them  - mark in pencil only .  Principals may pick up a script to take home for the break (Cat, Jojo, Horton, Gertrude, Mayzie, Kangaroo, Mayor, Mrs Mayor, General, Wickershams, Bird Girls.  Yertle and Grinch  may also pick up a script.
  • CREW CHIEF personnel are expected at the readthrough.  Be prepared to take notes about ideas that I’ll present and things that come to you.
  • There are a couple of open chief positions – see me if you are interested.  Positions helmed by seniors will need to have an assistant assigned, to learn the ropes for next year!
  • UNDERSTUDIES will be assigned for each principal role – that will be determined by the end of the break.
  • The ENSEMBLE TRACKS explained:
    • The JUNGLE CITIZENS live in the Jungle of Nool and are the primary companions of Horton the Elephant.  You’ll be given animal assignments later.
    • The WHOVILLE CITIZENS live on the dust speck and are the primary companions of Jojo.  You’ll be sorted into families.
    • The SPECIALTY ENSEMBLE are primarily dance-centric performers who will fulfill a variety of roles – they won’t have to sing quite as much, but will be used to fill in a variety of roles – Thing 1 and Thing 2, Hunters, Circus performers, extra soldiers, fish, Hunches, etc.

ANOTHER FALL PLAY CAST LIST!


Thanks for your patience everyone - lots of parts have to be moved into place to come up with a final list - here's what we've got.  This will be posted at school tomorrow.

NOISES OFF and AUDIENCE
CASTING PLAN
Thanks Again to all of you who participated in auditions.  We have tried to find specific jobs for as many people as possible – if you don’t see your name please know that we want you to be involved somehow in the show – so start getting involved in one of the production crews that interests you!
If any changes to the cast are needed, we’ll notify you personally if an onstage spot for you develops – and that does happen once in a while!  Everyone who auditioned can be considered as a candidate to move into any open position that develops.
Please INITIAL by your name to accept your role assignment.  Hard copies of the notice will be posted on the theatre door, and on the STAGE callboard in the music hallway.
If for any reason you will not accept your role, please inform me ASAP in person.  Any personnel change will require us to do some shuffling, and it would make sense to do that right away.
We will have a few more ASSISTANT DIRECTOR positions open – if we have a crew of A.D.s it make it easier for us to run simultaneous rehearsals as needed – see Mr. Smeallie if you are interested in an A.D. spot.
The  mandatory  readthrough is Wednesday, September 16.  Pizza will be provided!  Audience meets by no later than 5:30, Noises Off by 6.  Chiefs do your best to attend both sessions.  Plan to  meet in the little theatre, and  the readthrough will take until at least 9 or 9:30.
All casting and work assignments are based on the completion of all paperwork – application, contract and resume – by FRIDAY, September 18.  All CONFLICTS should be entered into VSM by that time as well.
