A Scary Day

Here's a quick post about our Friday - scares were the order of the day in the morning afternoon and evening!

Our first activity today was the last of our four shows to watch -  a kids' piece written by the students of an Anchorage high school called MONSTER SCHOOL 2 - MONSTERS GO WEST.  This group developed a Sesame Street-inspired show called MONSTER SCHOOL last year, and they brought their second installment of the concept to festival this year.  It was an adorable childrens' theatre piece that mixed elements of history, culture and good manners with a little Magic School Bus and Scooby Doo.   The student puppeteers did an excellent job and our kids played right along (and as they were the only audience, they were pretty important!)

David was all smiles today.

So was Logan

After the show the two groups had some conversation time., and as a result a few of their students came over to Church Hill to see our show later in the day!

The afternoon scare was in the form of a tough show performance.  Our persnickety frames were not cooperating today and one fell down during the opening number.  But in the best tradition of the show must go on, our company rallied and pulled through.  You'll notice in the pictures either the right frame is missing or it's being held by a student!  Once again our people proved resilient and resourseful in handling a problem, and Stage Manager Sarah showed tremendous calm under pressure. The photos were taken at the very back at the sound table when I had a break from punching buttons.

The third scare happened in the evening as a group of 26 (including the entire Ades family)  took in a Ghost Tour through Edinburgh's famed underground vaults.  Our guide Lydia was a master storyteller, and had our travelers either wrapped in fear or  in stitches (sometimes at the same time).  It was great fun, and fascinating!

Tomorrow - a chance to sleep late, and then our final show at 2pm and a celebration dinner at a local pub!

Gettin' close to time to come home!
